7 Keys to Success before you take the Leap…
1. Know what you want to accomplish?
Define your WHY? What business are you developing? What do you want
to accomplish? How will you accomplish your WHY? Focus, Pray and
Meditate on your WHY each day as we get what we focus on.
2. Create a Exit Plan along with a Business Plan
Your Exit and Business Plans are your roadmap to where you are going.
The Exit Plan defines all the things you need to accomplish before you
can quit the day job. Make sure you include paying off debt, making large
purchases such as a new desktop, a laptop, a car or training programs
that will facilitate your rapid growth in your business. Enhance and
upgrade your skills because as an entrepreneur you will be wearing
multiple hats which may require new skills so take an assessment of your
skills and see what you need to upgrade.
The Business Plan is the roadmap for your business. It includes your
Business and Marketing Strategies. It will define the business, industry
and your executive summary. Your marketing strategies will highlight how
you are going to get your product or service in the hands of those people
who want, need and appreciate us the most.
3. Have 3 – 6months of Personal and Professional Savings.
Ladies I can’t stress this enough. It is going to be very different once you
no longer have that consistent paycheck. You want to have money so you
don’t have to get stressed out when clients aren’t as punctual with
payments as you may like. Having a financial cushion is one of the best
secrets I can share with you.
4. Set up your Bookkeeping System.
Learn QuickBooks or Quicken or something like it. You want to start off on
the right foot. Establish your preferred system for managing your cash flow
on a monthly basis. Even though you may have an awesome accountant
you need to sign all your checks and have a handle on your money.

5. Weave your Network – Your Support Team of Resources, Contacts
and Organizations. The #1 best thing for you to do while you are still
working, so you can turn Contacts into Contracts once you leave your day
job. Join at least one organization that you think will connect you with
those individuals in your target market. I always suggest you get involved
and the best way to get involved is on the Membership committee, as you
will be one of the first people a new member meets when joining the
organization. You can make that person feel warm and welcomed. People
always remember people that help them or make them feel good.
6. Your Signature is Your Brand - Make a Name for Yourself!!
Define your Brand before someone else does. You want to decide and
define how you are perceived by others. While this will take some time you
want to make sure your brand is a part of everything you do from your
stationery to the way your phone is answered. Strong brands influence
people’s decisions to buy and they also build brand loyalty
7. Hire a Coach – Your accountability partner that will give you some of
the best advice whether you want to hear it or not. A friend may not have
the skill or they may feel uncomfortable being direct and honest with you.
