· WMV - Windows Media Video is a compressed video file format for several proprietary codecs developed by Microsoft. A multiplexed (audio and video combined) MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 file mpeg was not developed for any particular operating system
· QT - QuickTime is a multimedia framework developed by Apple Inc., capable of handling various formats of digital video, media clips, sound, text, animation, music, and interactive panoramic images.
· MOV - designed initially for the Mac platform but is now usable via a plug-in and helper application on most other operating systems.
· AVI - Audio Video Interleave files can contain both audio and video data in a file container that allows synchronous audio-with-video playback.
· RM- It is typically used in conjunction with RealVideo and RealAudio and is used for streaming content over the Internet. archetypial streamed video files basic player can still be downloaded for free at http://www.real.com/. You can also use the files as non streamed format, but they are not so well designed for that
· FLV- Flash Video is a file format used to deliver video over the Internet using Adobe Flash Player.
